Grand Rapids North Council Finishes their Season
The Grand Rapids North Council has something to look forward to all season long. Besides they typical events of a council — council meetings with workshops, Cadet-O-Rama, Pinewood Derby, Snow Derby, Fall Rally, etc. — they have ended the season the same way for some years now. They have their April council meeting at Beckwith Hills CRC, where Doug VanTimmeren attends. Doug brings his transportable wood-burning pizza oven with all the fixings. A few men grab pizza crusts and spread them with sauce and cover that with cheese. Then each counselor adds whatever he wants on his pizza. Choices include pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onions, and green peppers. Doug pops them in the oven next to the burning wood and brings them out when they’re done. They taste great!
There’s rarely any business remaining to be done, so it often ends up being just a night for food, fellowship, and fun. And a good time to thank God for another year of serving Him in Cadets.
