Craft Project – Scrap Sweeper
Follow these instructions (and the video) to make a simple machine that picks up scraps on the table as it rolls!
Instructions (see video for details/example)
What You Will Need
- small box with a window (we used a plastic cutlery box)
- two plastic bottle caps
- cotton swap or wood dowel
- glue
- paints and brushes
- scissors
- marker
Step #1
Cut off top tabs.
Step #2
Mark cut lines as shown.
Step #3
Cut out the mouth of the sweeper.
Step #4
If a cotton swab is not wide enough, try cutting a wood dowel to fit.
Step #5
Make holes in side tabs to hold swab or dowel.
Step #6
Glue a cap to one end of the swab or dowel using your preferred adhesive (we used hot glue).
Step #7
Attach wheel assembly to sweeper and glue the other cap on.
Step #8
Glue together two equally-sized rectangles of paper with the dowel or swab sandwiched in the center.
Step #9
Trim edges and cut tabs along both.
Step #10
Glue two more rectangles to the sweep and cut more tabs.
Step #11
You can decorate your sweeper with paint to give it a unique look.
Step #12
Be tidy in style!
