2018 East/East Central Regional Conference
Counselors and other Cadet leaders in the Eastern and Eastern Central Regions met together at their annual conference on November 10, 2018, in Strathroy, Ontario. Bear Creek Council hosted this year’s conference with the theme, “God’s Workforce,” based on Colossians 3:23.
The conference was well-attended and included plenty of opportunities for Counselors and others to meet, network, praise God, and focus on how to do the work of the Cadets ministry more effectively.
Many Counselors attended workshops focused on spirituality, leadership, and promoting Cadets.
Other workshops involved crafts or skill development. Counselors – and some spouses – had to the chance to explore a range of topics, including backpacking, bath bombs, cake pops, chalk painting, flint knapping, meat cutting, knife making, potato cannon construction, rope making, seed saving, and more.
Worship and praise were also a part of the conference. At assemblies before and after the day of workshops, attendees recited landmarks and sang songs together. The keynote speaker, Bill Barneveld, encouraged attendees to remember that they have been called to be part of God’s workforce and to be the best workers we can be in God’s Kingdom.
Throughout the day, counselors were able to network, compare notes, and encourage each other.
Thanks again to Bear Creek Council for hosting this conference, and we are confident that those who attended will be a blessing to others using what they have learned.
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.
